The Mojang’s augmented reality game, Minecraft Earth, is not yet officially available. However, it is possible to install and play it today.
Presented during E3 last June, Minecraft Earth beta, a geolocated and augmented version of Minecraft, was available for preview in a handful of countries. After New Zealand, Sweden, Iceland, and Mexico, Mojang has just launched in the United States.
Minecraft earth release date not yet launched officially. But for the most impatient, it is quite possible to download and install the game. Here’s how to proceed.
Start by visiting the mojang minecraft earth google play store and click on Pre-register. This step seems to be necessary before you can start the game on your device.
2. Download Minecraft Earth
Then download the Minecraft Earth APK on your Android smartphone. This installation file can only be executed if you have previously authorized the installation of applications from unknown sources.
If you download and open the APK from Google Chrome, you should automatically see an alert and navigate to the settings that enable this permission.
You can also find it by opening the Settings and then going to Apps & Notifications. You will then need to deploy Advanced Preferences and then enter Application-Specific Access.
Then go to the Install Unknown Apps menu. All you have to do is tap Chrome and turn on Allow this source.
3. Connect Your Microsoft Account
Open the Minecraft Earth APK on your smartphone and tap Install. At launch, the game should offer to download a content update. Press Yes, wait a few seconds and then press the Play button.
The game should display a login window to your Microsoft account. Enter your username, press Next, enter and your password and press Connect.
If you already have a Gamertag, press Let’s play, otherwise create your Gamertag. The application requires access to your location to work. Tap Allow only if the app is in use and wait. The game should open directly on the map.
Go explore the map to recover resources and start building virtual places in real life. Contrary to what one might think, the game does not require that you use a VPN to work.
